In the classic 80s prom flick, Ringwald makes her own prom dress by cutting up an old, dingy dress and turning it into a beautiful new creation.
According to writer Angel Teems of PromAdvice.com, many high school girls are pulling a Ringwald for their own proms this year and making a new gown out of an old one.
Due to the green environmental movement, more girls are shopping for vintage dresses at thrift stores and second-hand shops, and then altering the old duds.
Teems says, They can cut off the poofy sleeves from an old, 80s dress and make it into a cute strapless gown. Then they can tailor a new hemline and neckline just like Molly Ringwald did in Pretty In Pink.
She says the green gown trend is the new face of prom fashion, and expects the fixer-upper style to stick around.
