While traveling through Europe in the 1970s with his wife, LaJune, wealthy industrialist Byron Godbersen became fascinated with castles, and decided to build his own when he got back to Iowa.
Now, the town is dotted with dozens of castles, which house businesses and even the city newspaper.
For LaJune, who lives in the original castle built by her deceased husband, life is grand.
She says, I live in the biggest castle of all.
School groups and local ladies organizations have toured LaJunes majestic manor, but because its her home, she keeps the tours to a minimum.
While the thought of storming a real-life castle might entice some troublemakers, LaJune says everyone is respectful of the towering tourist trap she calls home.
And castle life hasnt gone to LaJunes head.
She says, I have a home in Arizona thats not a castle. Im not spoiled!
