Indian Export Firing Up New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – There’s a hot export that’s about to set New Mexico on fire.

The 20th Annual National Fiery Foods and Barbecue Show is spicing things up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, this Friday (Feb. 29) through Sunday (Mar. 2), and the main attraction is an Indian chile pepper called bhut jolokia, which is the hottest pepper in the entire world.

Event spokesperson Dave DeWitt says, “We’ll have about 1,000 different hot and spicy products at the show, but this particular pepper is so hot, it’s extremely painful. It will burn the hell out of your mouth.”

Though DeWitt won’t be tasting the pepper himself, he understands other people’s caliente curiosity.

He says, “Some people love to drive the fastest cars or climb the highest mountains. This is just another extreme thing they can do.”

And paramedics will be on hand if things get too hot for anyone, because according to DeWitt, folks have been known to faint or vomit from the excessive heat of the peppers.
