Man Runs 90 Miles To Celebrate 90th Birthday

MARINA DEL REY, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A nearly 90-year- old man in Marina Del Rey, California, is about to run the marathon of a lifetime.

Julian Myers – a long-time Hollywood publicist for screen legends like Marilyn Monroe, Gregory Peck, and Robert Wagner – has completed 25 marathons in his 89 years of life.

This Friday (Feb. 22) is Myers’ 90th birthday, and to celebrate, the avid senior citizen runner will be attempting a 90-mile marathon run from San Diego to Los Angeles.

Myers hopes to finish the 90-mile run by March 2 with a celebratory dinner in Los Angeles with 390 of his closest friends.

This will be Myers’ longest marathon to date, but luckily, time is on his side.

He explains, “I’m lucky enough to get that extra day (Feb. 29) because it’s leap year, so I’ll make it count. I’m a little slower than I used to be, so I need all the help I can get!”

During the run, Myers will track his mileage with a pedometer and will stop at hotels along the Southern California coast.

His wife will also be walking a large part of the course with him, and, as he puts it, “Making sure I stay out of traffic.”

The run is also to promote a holiday he invented called “Amigo Day,” which celebrates friendship, love, and happiness.
