Mount Everest Is A Nightmare

HARTFORD, Conn. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – An adventurous author has some terrifying tales for everyone who wants to climb Mount Everest.

High Crimes: The Fate of Everest in an Age of Greed (Hyperion) delves into the dark, dangerous side of Everest, including tales of drugs and prostitution at base camp, rampant theft, and seedy, sexually abusive Sherpas.

Author Michael Kodas explored the majestic mountain’s scary side on two separate expeditions, where he also learned of “parasitic, predatory adventurers” who stole other climbers’ oxygen tanks and gear.

He explains, “Crimes we’d consider petty at sea level are deadly at that altitude. You see the absolute best and absolute worst in humanity and not much in between.”

While documenting the danger prevented Kodas from ever reaching the summit, he’s not dying to get back on the menacing mountain.

He says, “Every time I’ve left, I wanted to be as far away from that putrid place as I can. But never say never.”

High Crimes hits shelves next Tuesday (Feb. 5).
