Canine Lover Gets Down With Her Dogs

BEAVERDAM, Va. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – You might not be able to teach an old dog new tricks, but you can teach them how to freestyle boogie.

For 14 years, Canine Freestyle Federation has taught doggies and their handlers to dance in sync for competitions, and owner Joan Tennille, who’s boogied with more than 200 pooches, says it’s the owners, not the dogs, who have a hard time getting down.

She says, “How long it takes to learn depends on the dog, but I’ve never had a dog not into this. It’s only the human that won’t like it and will give it up. There’s no end to what a dog can do.”

But there is one routine that gets dancing doggies barking mad.

Tennille says, “You can’t teach a dog to polka or to skip. It’s very difficult for them. You might be able to get a three-legged dog to skip, but I’ve never tried it.”
