Loverboy ‘Just Getting Started’ Building A Fanbase

VANCOUVER (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Canadian 80s pop band Loverboy has built a devoted fanbase over the decades, but frontman Mike Reno says they’re still acquiring young, fresh fans.

Loverboy – best known for their rockin’ hit, “Working for the Weekend” – is releasing a new album tomorrow (Nov. 6) titled Just Getting Started, and Reno says their new music is getting rave reviews from hip, new listeners.

Says Reno: “We’ve had some of our long-term fans share the music with younger fans and they’re all loving it. We’ve also had a lot of younger crowds attending our concerts, so that’s a good sign.”

Reno believes the appearance of Loverboy’s songs in popular movies over the years like Zoolander, The Cable Guy, and Crank, have introduced new fans to their music, while providing some enjoyable movie moments for Reno too.

He says, “I loved the scene in Zoolander when they’re in the mines and ‘Working for the Weekend’ comes on. The song fits so perfectly, it makes me laugh every time!”

And while Reno is pleased to have new Loverboy fans, he assures die-hard devotees that the band is the same as it’s always been.

Reno adds, “We may have new music, but we’re still – without a doubt – Loverboy.”
