Music Fest Keeps It Classy

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One Southern music festival promises to keep things down-and-dirty – and maybe even electrified.

The 4th Annual Gonerfest brings the best underground garage and punk rock – including awesomely unknown rockers CoCoComa and Ghetto Ways – to the sweaty stages of Memphis, Tennessee, September 26-30.

Fest founder Eric Friedl says Gonerfest is an organic explosion that’s “out of control and fun as hell.”

And although there’s plenty of musical mayhem, some of the stranger sights take place off stage.

In addition to a performer rocking a fish-head mask, last year’s festivities were a real splash when plans for a charity dunk-tank fell through, leaving Friedl in a fishy fix.

He says, “The guy couldn’t get the dunk-tank, so instead he got a kiddy pool with live eels, and he stripped down and sat in there. That shows how classy we are.”
