Derby Extravaganza Brings A Clash Of The Combines

LIND, Wash. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Tractors will be crashin’ this Saturday (June 9) in Lind, Washington, and tons of folks will be piling in to watch the metal mash.

That’s because the 19th Annual Demolition Derby Extravaganza is chargin’ into town, and wheat tractors, also known as combines, are ready for a crash-course in calamity.

The event will be pitting several 10,000-pound combines against one another in battle royales of steel-smashing destruction that will eventually crown one combine king.

And while newbie tractors are encouraged to enter, event organizer Carol Kelly says experienced combines may have the upper-hand in the fender-bending fest.

Says Kelly: “Returning contestants have a better chance. They know to take out the back tires of their combines to demolish other tractors more easily. That’s where you get them.”

This year, Kelly expects a heap of hellraisers to attend the fest and root for last tractor standing, who will win thousands of dollars in prize money and indestructible bragging rights.
