California Wine Country To Secede From Nation

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – It’s not an earthquake that’s going to separate California from the rest of the nation – it’s a bottle of wine.

That’s the message pouring from growers in California’s wine country, who are officially declaring California its own nation starting today (May 30), due to the fact that California produces 90 percent of all U.S. wine.

Karen Ross, president of the California Association of Winegrape Growers says since California is the 4th largest wine producer in the world, it’s time to formalize the state as a sovereign wino nation.

And while Ross suggests leading men like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jay Leno, and Francis Ford Coppola run for Pinot President of Cali, the Cabernet campaigner is dubbing herself with the most majestic moniker of all.

Ross jokes, “I’ll be the ‘Queen of Wine.”
