DaVinci’s ‘Last Supper’ Goes To The Dogs

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The Leonardo DaVinci painting The Last Supper is going to the dogs, thanks to an artist in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Ron Burns, who specializes in canine-themed art, has just painted a doggone version of The Last Supper featuring various dog breeds sitting in for Jesus, Judas and the various apostles.

The painting is officially titled Dinner And Drinks With The Son Of Dog and features Burns’ own dog – a mutt named “Rufus” – sitting in Jesus’ chair.

He jokes that using a mutt makes the painting’s message more inclusive than if he chose a purebreed.

Burns will officially unveil the original painting later today (Mar. 22) at a Scottsdale, Arizona, and it’s expected to sell for $65,000.

He figures copies of the painting will be popular, but not with everyone.

As he puts it, “The churches probably won’t embrace it. But I think dog lovers will. They’re more forgiving.”
