‘Three’s Company’ Celebrates 30th Anniversary Today (Mar. 15)

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Today (Mar. 15) is a good day to “Come and knock on our door,” because it’s the 30th anniversary of the day Three’s Company debuted on ABC.

On March 15, 1977, the sexy sitcom debuted and quickly became one of the hottest shows on TV. In fact, series star Joyce DeWitt says success was so quick that she had to learn to get used to “having a very public life.”

Although some folks called the show “Jiggle TV,” DeWitt feels that the reason the show has lasted so long is because it was merely an updated version of 16th century farce.

But some of the funniest parts of the show went on behind the scenes. For instance, Heather Locklear auditioned to replace Suzanne Somers, but lost the job because she stuffed tissue paper under her arms to deal with excess sweat.

Trouble is, the paper kept sneaking out, making producers think Locklear padded her bra.

TV Land will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of Three’s Company with a 24-hour marathon beginning on Saturday (Mar. 17).
