On March 15, 1977, the sexy sitcom debuted and quickly became one of the hottest shows on TV. In fact, series star Joyce DeWitt says success was so quick that she had to learn to get used to having a very public life.
Although some folks called the show Jiggle TV, DeWitt feels that the reason the show has lasted so long is because it was merely an updated version of 16th century farce.
But some of the funniest parts of the show went on behind the scenes. For instance, Heather Locklear auditioned to replace Suzanne Somers, but lost the job because she stuffed tissue paper under her arms to deal with excess sweat.
Trouble is, the paper kept sneaking out, making producers think Locklear padded her bra.
TV Land will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of Threes Company with a 24-hour marathon beginning on Saturday (Mar. 17).
