‘King Of Queens’ Cast Member Happy For Recognition – Any Recognition

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The King Of Queens ends its ninth season later this year and cast member Victor Williams is hoping the show finally gets some recognition.

Williams – who plays Kevin James’ best friend Deacon Palmer – feels the sitcom never got its due, but is proud that “out of 200-some episodes, we never jumped the shark – although we came close a couple of times.”

Despite the long run, Williams says the show has been ignored by the industry and says it got a “raw deal” as far as awards were concerned.

That is changing slightly. Williams is nominated for an NAACP Award for the show and says, “It is a thrill to be nominated. Anything that comes at this point is a big to- do.”

In fact, considering that Williams’ character was one of the most well-rounded black characters on TV, he admits he’s surprised he wasn’t nominated until now.

The NAACP Awards take place Friday (Mar. 2) in Los Angeles.
