James Blunt’s Songwriting Secret: Drinking Lots Of Alcohol

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – James Blunt is blunt about his songwriting secret: He drinks a lot before sitting down with pen and paper.

The Grammy-nominated singer of tunes like “You’re Beautiful” tells Life magazine that he’s “a big partyer” and prepares for the songwriting process by imbibing lots of beer.

As he puts it, “I drink a lot. I do. And I go to a quiet place and start writing.”

Blunt enjoys singing the praises of booze and admits sucking down the suds is one reason why he was able to write “You’re Beautiful” in about two-and-a-half minutes.

In his words, “I saw an ex-girlfriend on the tube with a new boyfriend and lived a lifetime in those minutes.”

Although he’s enjoying his fame and the Grammy nominations, Blunt admits, “The notion of fame is such a distraction from what I do. And it’s unhealthy when we have things like war and global warming going on.”
