Actor Found Working With Elvis To Be A ‘Wonderful’ Experience

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Being a character actor in the 1960s had its perks – like costarring with Elvis Presley.

That’s according to Jimmy Hawkins, who has appeared in more than 500 television shows and movies since the 1940s.

Although fans today remember him best as little Tommy Bailey from the Christmas classic It’s A Wonderful Life, he says he’ll never forget working with the King on the flicks Girl Happy and Spinout.

He says he will never forget the day Presley tapped on his trailer door “just to hang out” with him and costar Shelly Fabares and says he was full “of funny stories” even though he was rather reserved on the set.

He also says the King would always practice his karate moves on costars and randomly break out into song.

Says Hawkins: “It would just be him and like seven or eight of us on the soundstage. During the scenes he would lip synch but when he would do those private shows, I really realized why he was the king.”

Hawkins will once again be seen when NBC broadcasts It’s A Wonderful Life which airs December 16 and December 24.
