One of them is Brett Wallin, who rattles chains rhythmically for the indie band Anathallo.
Wallin says the band likes turning every day objects such as velcro or baseball cards stuck in bicycle spokes into instruments but says the chains are good when a song needs a little crunch.
Wallin insists each household-item-turned-instrument is carefully chosen for the tone it will add to a song. As he puts it, Im not just playing chains for chains sake.
Anathallo is currently touring behind its new album, Floating World, and while the group is becoming better known for its unusual instrumentation, Wallin admits before shows he still has to keep his chains close to the other instruments ... or else someone will take them away.
