Two Good ’80s Bands Combine To Form FourGoodMen

SAYREVILLE, N.J. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The members of two good ’80s bands – Simple Minds and Big Country – are now combining to become FourGoodMen.

That’s the name of a new group that features former Big Country guitarist Bruce Watson and Simple Minds keyboardist Mick MacNeill and bassist Derek Forbes.

Watson says the band started more as a lark for a charity event in Edinburgh, Scotland, but became a serious group when, as he puts it, “Mick and I discovered we could write together.”

The band is now on its first American tour and is including a female bagpipe player in its show. Watson admits playing along with that windy instrument isn’t easy because, he says, “I have to detune everything.”

Although Watson admits his former success provides a lot of pressure for the new band, he and his bandmates aren’t running from their past and are performing songs like “In A Big Country,” “Alive And Kicking,” and “Don’t You Forget About Me.”

However, he says that’s because he has faith that the band’s new material – which takes up 25 percent of the show – is strong enough to stand up to the classic tunes.
