‘Unit’ Stars Getting High Marks For Realism

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Although the CBS drama, The Unit, is focused around a “secret” Special Forces team, it’s no secret how the real-life members of that team feel about the show.

According to cast member Michael Irby – who plays bomb dismantler Charles Gray – the show is based on a book, Inside Delta Force, that was written by producer Eric Haney.

As he puts it, “He’s still in touch with those guys and they’ll tell us if a scene is unbelievable or if we sold it as the truth.”

Irby says that’s important because, in his words, “the show is very popular with members of the military and I don’t think it would be if it weren’t accurate.

But while the show strives to be realistic, getting cast on the drama is a fantasy-come-true for Irby, who admits he used have BB-gun wars with his friends while growing up.

He admits: “I’m getting paid to do what my mom told me never to do.”

The Unit airs Tuesday nights on CBS.
