Hiking Up, Spas Down For Vacationers

NEEDHAM, Mass. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A lot of Americans are telling themselves to “take a hike” while spas are losing their steam.

According to the survey, 43 percent of Americans are planning to hike on their next vacation, up from 24 percent a year ago. However, interest in spa vacations have dropped from 55 percent last year to 47 percent this year.

Meanwhile, 10 percent of travelers have stayed at a clothing- optional resort and an additional 2 percent would like to, but can’t convince their partner.

  • 18 percent admit they’ve had to impose the “whatever happens in (fill in the destination) stays in (fill in the destination)” rule with their travel partners.

  • This year, 6 percent started a romantic relationship with someone they met on a flight compared to only 4 percent last year.

  • Finally, 64 percent admit they’ve had to buy an extra piece of luggage while on vacation just to bring home souvenirs.
