Tom And Jerry Return To Their Roots

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Cartoon characters Tom And Jerry are returning to their comedy roots.

The popular cat and mouse’s new show, Tom And Jerry Tales, debuts tomorrow (Sep. 23) on the CW Network and its producer, Frank Molieri, promises the new episodes are as violent as can be allowed on TV these days.

In his words, “We didn’t want kids to imitate the violence, so we made the props so big that no child could find them at home.”

There’s another important detail that Molieri believes fans of the original MGM cartoons will appreciate: Neither Tom nor Jerry speak.

As he puts it, “I was ecstatic when we decided they wouldn’t talk, but that creates a challenge because then they actually have to ‘act.”’

Still, Molieri is happy with the results and says the biggest compliment came when someone posted the show’s title credits online with clips of some of the original 1940s-era cartoons and few fans could tell the difference.
