Thats because the 28th annual Bobby Jones Open is taking place and only folks named Bob Jones can participate.
The tournaments organizer, Bob Jones, expects more than 60 Bobs, Bobbys, Roberts and Robertas from all over the U.S. to swing sticks for the three-day event, which aims to raise money for research on a crippling spinal nerve disorder that afflicted the tournaments namesake, golfing legend Bobby Jones.
Jones admits that with more than 350 registered Bobby Jones milling around things can get confusing so every Bob is required to have a nickname based on their hometown, occupation or hobby no repeats allowed.
Although the Bobs may range in age from 20 to 90, Jones says there are two things all Bobs have in common: A love of golf and a gentlemanly disposition, even among the women.
Says Jones: Every Bob loves to play golf its rare to find one that doesnt.
