Cardboard Cutout Company Making Booty On Jack Sparrow

BENICIA, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest might not open until this Friday (July 7) but fans are already rushing to get life-size cutouts of their favorite swashbuckling heroes from the film.

According to Steve Highlund, spokesman for Advanced Graphics – a Benicia, California company that sells life-size cardboard replicas of Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley in their pirate duds are selling like hotcakes and should continue to do well after the movie premieres.

The cutouts usually sell for about $30 and while Highlund is not sure of the exact numbers, he says his company has been shipping them out like crazy.

But larger-than-life pirates aren’t the only orders keeping Highlund busy. He says the most popular cardboard request is for President Bush: The company sells thousands of life-size “Dubyas” a month.

Highlund believes Bush is a popular choice because so many people “either love him or hate him.”
