Vienna Beef Prez Steamed About New York Dogs

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The president of Vienna Beef has a beef with New York-style hot dogs – and says they don’t cut the mustard.

Howard Eirinberg is the top dog for Vienna Beef and he’s been steamed since last July when a sausage survey suggested more folks like the New York-style frankfurter than the Chicago kind.

Although Vienna Beef is used for all types of hot dogs, Eirinberg there’s no comparison between the Chicago-style – on a poppyseed bun and topped with yellow mustard, chopped onion, relish, tomatoes, peppers, pickles and celery salt – and the “dirty water dogs” served in the Big Apple.

As he puts it, “Chicago may be called the Second City but not when it comes to hot dogs.”

Now, Eirinberg is putting his foot-long in his mouth by having his company sponsor an event called the “Great Chicago-Style Hot Dog Rally” on Tuesday (May 16).

The event will feature a battle between the Windy City’s fastest hot dog makers and a contest to see who can eat the fewest dogs in 15 minutes.

In Eirinberg’s words, “The Chicago Dog is a work of art and we want people who can savor them, not shove 50 of them in their mouth.”
