Psychic Reading Helps Cassandra Wilson Jazz Up New Album

JACKSON, Miss. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Singer Cassandra Wilson found some unique ways of jazzing up her new album – by going to a tarot card reader.

Wilson has just released Thunderbird, which she says has two songs inspired by a psychic reading she had done in Los Angeles a few years ago.

For instance, the title track was inspired after the psychic told Wilson that her that native Americans considered the thunderbird to be a divine and mystical animal sent by the gods to protect them from evil.

Another song, “Tarot,” was also inspired by the experience and Wilson says the reading permeates the whole album.

But while Wilson owes the inspiration to her L.A. psychic, she doesn’t plan on paying them any royalties. As she puts it, “That’s like asking the people who built the roads to pay for them.”
