New Apartment Contest Promises Freedom From Parental Control

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – “Adultlescents” with a real-life “failure to launch” will have to rely on a new contest, not Sarah Jessica Parker.

The apartments.com website has just launched its third-annual Room to Move Contest, and is awarding $21,500 to the moocher who most needs that extra little nudge out of the house.

Deadbeat contestants must submit a 300-word essay describing their loser lifestyle and how living with Mom and Dad cramps their style.

There is a catch: the prize package makes it possible for the loser to leave home but also includes a makeover of their former room by the staff of the HGTV series, My First Space, to prevent the freeloader from relapsing back to the ’rents when the cash is gone.

But being a big enough loser to win the contest won’t be easy.

Contest spokesman Michael Ricciardelli says the bar has been set high by past winners, such as the mother and daughter forced to share the same bunk bed and the guy who actually shacked up in his grandmother’s laundry room.
