Howie Mandel: ‘I’m A Better Game Show Host Than Contestant’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Howie Mandel is game to the idea of hosting a game show – just don’t ask him to be a contestant.

Mandel is the host of Deal Or No Deal, a new game show where contestants have to choose one of 26 suitcases holding various amounts of cash from one penny to $1 million.

The show will air on NBC for five nights starting Dec. 19, and Mandel is excited because he says the format has a lot of “drama and horror” depending on if a contestant chooses to make a deal or not.

Deal Or No Deal has been a big hit in 41 other countries and Mandel is betting the concept could be successful stateside.

However, don’t ask him to be a contestant because he’s not big on taking risks with money. As he puts it, “I would be the worst contestant because I have no sense of gambling. I would be happy with winning $10.”

He’s not just saying that. During the show, a mysterious entity known only as the “bank” will offer substantial settlements in exchange for briefcases.

Mandel admits he’s tried to get some players to take the money and walk away rather than risking it all and getting nothing.
