Elvis Is Still King – Of Rock Star Extravagances

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Elvis Presley is still the King, especially when it comes to extravagant purchases.

The editors of Blender magazine have just picked their list of the “50 Dumbest Rock-Star Extravagances” and Presley tops the list for the time in February, 1976, when he spent $3,387.28 to fly himself and two Colorado policemen from Memphis, Tennessee, to a Denver restaurant to order a sandwich.

But what a sandwich. It’s fittingly called the “Fool’s Gold” and features a hollowed loaf of bread filled with peanut butter, jelly and a pound a bacon. Although the sandwich was designed to feed eight, the King finished one unaided.

Blender editor Clark Collis admits other rock stars have wasted more money, like when Michael Jackson paid Marlon Brando $1 million to show up at a concert but says Presley takes the cake – or sandwich – because “it’s so ludicrous. He could have just paid a chef to make it.”
