Barenaked Ladies Consider Christmas Tour A Gift To Themselves

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – You might think touring during Christmastime is a way to thank the fans of Barenaked Ladies, but group members say their upcoming tour is really a gift to themselves.

The band begins a month-long North American jaunt in Montreal on Nov. 21 and while they plan to play some Christmas tunes, the main goal is to work out new material.

As Ed Robertson puts it, “It’s more of a rock show than a holiday show and we want to work out new material before going back in the studio in January.”

Robertson says most of the songs already “sound good off the rack” but says the tour will help determine the best way to sing some of the lines.

So far, Robertson estimates there are 28 songs completed and figures “there are between 10-15 that are a verse or bridge away from being finished.”

If all goes well, the next CD will be finished by next summer and Robertson believes it will start a new era for the group where they release new product everytime they start a new tour leg.
