NASA Scientist Creates Dorm Rooms Of Tomorrow – Today

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Many college dorm rooms are cesspools of loud music, grungy bathrooms and dilapidated mattresses but one NASA scientist is hoping to add a little class to them.

Space sleep expert Dr. Mark Rosekind is focusing his attention on designing dorm rooms that are galaxies away from the cramped spaces at most universities.

Rosekind has joined forces with Hilton Hotels to put his ideas to work at the Olympic Training Facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Some of his innovations include “easy-to-set alarm clocks” that include connections to CDs and MP3s, plush mattresses, and sensory changes involving temperature, lighting and visual stimuli.

Gold medal speed skater Apollo Ohno is among those moving in to the decked-out dorm rooms and Rosekind is pleased by what he sees.

That’s because, unlike real college dorm rooms, he hasn’t seen any condom wrappers or beer bottles lying around the floor yet.
