‘Too Close For Comfort’ Star Has Sobering Wake Up Call

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If you don’t remember Lydia Cornell, the blond bombshell who played Sarah Rush on the 1980s sitcom Too Close for Comfort, you’re not alone.

The 43-year-old actress says when she entered rehab for alcoholism 11 years ago she had a sobering experience.

Back then, Cornell says, “I thought I was too famous to get sober. Then I realized no one knew who I was.”

In her early days in rehab, she says she had to learn how to let go of old resentments, like the one she held against her mother for throwing away her Barbie dolls.

But Cornell is hitting new strides these days: She’s just recorded audio commentary for the second season of Too Close for Comfort out now on DVD, and will appear on Sunday’s (Oct. 9) episode of the HBO hit show Curb Your Enthusiasm playing a Victoria’s Secret saleswoman.
