Former Santana Trumpeter Steering Career Towards Car Racing

AKRON, Ohio (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A former Santana trumpeter is blowing his own horn when it comes to his car racing skills.

On Sept. 10 and 11, Julius Melendez will compete in the Dunlop Drivers Cup in Phoenix, a competition that will test the skills of hard-core driving enthusiasts in various race events.

The Grammy-award winner says he’s “very confident” he’ll do well in his first professional event, which isn’t all too surprising considering he’s had more than 30 years of experience racing motorcycles and race cars as well as working on them.

He figures his “aggressive yet smooth” driving style will bring him success – the same way his trumpet style has blown him fans from all over the world.

Although his need for speed is well-ingrained, Melendez still knows where his true skills lie. He’s releasing his first solo effort with a new double CD, Passion & Romance, which hits stores Sept. 13.
