Thats how ALFs creator and voice, Paul Fusco, convinced NBC executives to order the series back in 1986.
Fusco had a hard time convincing the bigwigs that a series about a shaggy, cat-eating extraterrestrial would fly until he brought out a prototype puppet and sat it next to then-NBC president Brandon Tartikoff.
As Fusco puts it, They stared at each other for about 10 seconds. Then ALF picked his nose and wiped it on Brandon.
Everyone burst out laughing and Tartikoff gave Fusco a deal to make the series, which ran for four seasons.
The second season of ALF hits DVD on Aug. 23 and Fusco is open to bringing the character back as long as its funny and worth ALFs time.
In his words, Ill do anything for a buck, but ALFs gotten awfully picky.
