Artist Claims To Be Paul Gauguin’s Reincarnation

SEATTLE (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A Seattle-based artist is claiming to have a colorful past – as the reincarnation of 19th-century French post-impressionist Paul Gauguin.

Although Gauguin died in 1903, 55-year-old Dutch-born artist Peter Teekamp says a series of events has convinced him he’s Gauguin’s reincarnation.

For instance, Teekamp claims that when he was a little boy, a voice in his head would constantly say the word “Gauguin.”

There’s more: For years, Teekamp has been painting hidden faces in his artwork, and has now discovered the same trick in Gauguin’s works.

You’d think being the reborn artist would make Teekamp happy, but he says he’d rather be Michelangelo who, in his opinion, “had a more romantic and distinct career.”

By comparison, Teekamp says Gauguin had a bad reputation: “He failed at being an artist, he failed at being a family man and failed at being a provider.”
