More than half a million motorcycle maniacs will get their motors running during the week-long event and a few hundred hog- lovers will take the opportunity to get hitched.
Rally director Lisa Weyer says a lot of motorcycle enthusiasts tie the knot during the event because They feel an emotional tie to the Rally.
There were 133 marriage licenses issued at last years Rally up from 100 in 2003 and Weyer says Sturgis mayor, Mark Zeigler, will be kept busy performing ceremonies in parks or on Main Street, which is lined with bikes parked side to side for about five blocks.
So far, Weyer hasnt seen any couples exchange their vows on Harleys but says leather-clad couples often get married atop a photo platform overlooking Sturgis and then take a celebratory ride down Main Street with cans tied to their bikes.
