Men’s Best Pool Player Sticking It To Women’s Best

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The 1973 “Battle Of The Sexes” tennis match between Bobby Riggs and Billy Jean King proved the gals can compete with the guys in tennis, but today they’re behind the 8-ball when it comes to pool.

That’s according to top male pool player Mike Sigel, who will be racking it up against the ladies’ top player, Loree Jon Jones, in a match Aug. 20 in Las Vegas to kick off the new International Pool Tour.

Sigel admits Jones is a “great player,” but doesn’t think she has a chance to pocket the $150,000 prize money – not against him, anyway.

He says, “It’s like Annika Sorenstam vs. Tiger Woods. She’s definitely not going to win even though she’s the best female golfer in the world.”

Sigel says his “strength, creativity and knowledge” of the game far surpasses Jones, who he says would have trouble beating any of the men pool players ranked in the top 10.

Still, Sigel says women pool players are “coming along” and he wouldn’t be surprised if they can compete with the men “20 years from now.”
