Billy Mumy Regrets The ‘Lost In Space’ Reunion That Didn’t Fly

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Billy Mumy played Will Robinson on the 1960s sci-fi series, Lost In Space, but his big regret is a planned reunion in the 1970s that didn’t fly.

Back in the ’70s, Mumy wrote an “epilogue” to the show that would have reunited the Space Family Robinson and resolved their castaway woes.

Although he had support and backing from the original cast members, Lost In Space creator Irwin Allen chose not to do it. As Mumy puts it, “I don’t want to dis him. I just wish he’d have done it.”

Sadly, Mumy’s grand plan won’t fly today, given the deaths of cast members Guy Williams and Jonathan Harris, but he says the cast still manages to have reunions several times a year “in the form of long lunches.”

The Lost In Space Season Three – Volume Two DVD collection hits stores Tuesday (Jul. 19).
