Dennis Weaver Back In The Saddle

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Western actor Dennis Weaver is back in the saddle again for Wildfire, a new TV show that premieres June 20 on the ABC Family Channel.

The veteran actor plays the owner of a thoroughbred horse ranch where a troubled teenage girl is sent to do rehab after becoming involved in drugs and stealing a car.

81-year-old Weaver says movies like Seabiscuit and the 50-to-1 long shot horse Giacomo’s recent Kentucky Derby win helped contribute to bringing the show to the tube. In his words, “That didn’t hurt.”

Weaver says his new acting gig won’t interfere with his true passion: “ecolonomics” projects, which combine ecology and economics to solve energy and environment issues.

In fact, he just got back from Greenville, South Carolina, where he and Willie Nelson opened a new truck stop that sells Nelson’s own brand of bio-diesel fuel called Willie Biodiesel.
