Rachael Leigh Cook Goes ‘Into The West’ Without A Corset

ATLANTA (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Rachael Leigh Cook enjoys starring in historical dramas but she wouldn’t want to go back in time.

The She’s All That star plays an 1860s woman in the TNT miniseries, Into The West, but admits she “wouldn’t have made it a full 10 minutes” if she lived in that time.

As she puts it, “I get cold easily. I like to microwave things.”

She admits her 21st century ways made it hard for producers to see her as a frontier woman but she managed to wrangle the role anyway.

But while Cook tried to be as true to her role as possible, there was one thing she wasn’t willing to do for realism: Wear a corset.

In her words, “I applaud the women’s movement that got us into pants. When women had to wear those things, that just wasn’t fair. I’m a fan of breathing.”

Into The West debuts Friday (Jun. 10) and Cook’s first episode airs June 24.
