Tony Nominee Wigs Out

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Broadway actress Adriane Lenox goes up for her first Tony Award on Sunday night (Jun. 5) and she’s wigging out – but that’s no change of pace for her.

You see, the cast member of the Pulitzer-winning play Doubt is a big fan of wigs and wears them both on and off stage.

Lenox says her wig-wearing started in high school after she fried her hair with a home perm and, since then, she’s thought of hairpieces as accessories, like shoes.

There’s another reason to like wigs that has to do with her profession: The actress says they “sort of change my face,” which means she can be unrecognizable from one role to the next.

For example, she recently met some fans outside the stage door of Doubt who couldn’t believe she was the same woman who’d appeared in the play – all because she’d changed out of her wig.

For her big night, Lenox is still debating whether to don what she calls her “party hair” or go with her natural locks, which are cut short.
