The Food Network is getting ready to hire a new host for one of its cooking shows by auditioning candidates on a reality series, The Next Food Network Star, debuting June 5.
Eight different chefs including two caterers who work as a team will appear on the four-week series and the winner will get a six-week series of their own in September.
Naturally, the competition could get heated but finalist Deborah Fewell says its more of a personal battle to be the best you can be rather than a food fight a la Iron Chef.
Fewell, a private chef in Pasadena, California, figures that cooking in front of a camera is harder than trying to walk and chew gum, and hopes that her personality comes out as well as her dishes.
Other aspiring celeb chefs include a model from New York City; a Los Angeles-based caretaker for developmentally disabled adults; and a 24-year-old wrestling coach from Columbia, Missouri.
