Movie Reviewer Sees Star Wars-Iraq Connection

BRUSSELS, Belgium (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – When Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith opens in theaters on Thursday (May 19) fans may see that George Lucas thinks President George W. Bush and the evil Sith Chancellor Palpatine have a lot in common.

Craig Winneker – the American-born editor of the Brussels-based techcentralstation.com – has seen the new Star Wars installment and says there are anti-Bush and anti-Iraq war messages all over the plot.

Winneker says in one scene, Senator Padame laments when the senate gives executive power to Chancellor Palpatine: “So this is how liberty dies – to thunderous applause.”

In another scene, Anakin says, “If you’re not with me, you’re my enemy,” which Winneker says elicited laughs from the audience who saw it mocking a similar statement Bush made.

Winneker says Lucas “wasn’t trying to make Fahrenheit 9/11” but he says he does feel Lucas was getting a little too political in the script.
