New York Becomes Tahiti For A Week

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A Tahitian airline will be turning New York into paradise next week.

Air Tahiti Nui will launch a week-long Tahiti campaign starting Monday (Apr. 25) to promote air travel to Tahiti from the East Coast.

Organizers say when they did a video shot for a billboard they asked New Yorkers on the street a la Jay Leno’s jay- walking where Tahiti is located.

Sadly, most people don’t even know it’s in the South Pacific – which is enough to inspire a mutiny.

To inform the public, Tahitian tourist officials will be holding Polynesian dancing demonstrations and passing out flower leis at the Time Warner Center.

Bars are also serving up new cocktails created for the week. The Employees Only bar has created the “Fraise Sauvage” which is a twist on the drink French 75. The Sauvage has gin, lemon juice and champagne, but also has a puree of strawberries and Tahitian vanilla.

Tahiti’s newly-elected President Oscar Temaru will also be in town to celebrate but there’s no word on if he’ll be wearing a sarong.
