‘Lassie’ Star Doggedly Working On Autobiography

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Remember the kid who played “Timmy” on Lassie, Jon Provost? Well, these days, he’s no longer working with his canine co- star. Instead, he’s doggedly working on his autobiography.

The 55-year-old Provost currently lives in Santa Rosa, California, and spends his time writing his memoirs, tentatively titled, Timmy’s In The Well. He says the process of barking up memories has made him admire the three Collies he worked with on the series between 1957 and 1964 even more than before.

In his words, “Those dogs were so smart. They knew when they got things right. I think the human actors made more mistakes than the dogs.”

But even though Provost worked with some of the smartest pooches around, he’s not biased. In his words, “Sometimes it’s best not to have the smartest dog on the street” and jokes it’s because “they’re not off fighting forest fires or rescuing people.”

Provost will have more chances to reminisce about Lassie on Sunday (Apr. 24) because TV Land will be broadcasting a 14-hour marathon of the series.
