Polyester Judge Robes Stick In Carey Lowell’s Craw

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Former Law & Order cast member Carey Lowell plays a judge on Friday’s (Apr. 8) episode of Law & Order: Trial By Jury but not everything was made to order for her appearance.

Lowell admits that the robe her character wears in the courtroom is “cheap polyester” and is worn by a lot of actors instead of being specially fitted.

She jokes that she wishes the robes were at least made of linen but says there was a good side. As she puts it, “They cover up everything so you can do your scenes in sweat pants or blue jeans and you don’t have to wear high heels.”

Another benefit for Lowell: Her character gets to bang a gavel and yell, “Order in the court” but she admits she didn’t get the thrill other actors might from the scene because, in her words, “I don’t have that much pent-up anger.”
