Gang Of Four Ganging Up For U.S. Tour

PORTLAND, Ore. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Everything old is new again, especially for punk-funk pioneers like Gang Of Four.

The band that gave the world the early 80s cult hit, “I Love A Man In A Uniform,” is reuniting for the first time since 1981 and will be touring the U.S. starting May 1 at the Coachella Valley Arts And Music Festival – the same place the Pixies began their successful comeback tour last year.

Coming back after a 24-year break might sound tough and bassist Dave Allen admits he was a little hesitant at first. Nevertheless, he says after only a week of practice “whatever was there between us came back.”

Although Gang Of Four fans have been clamoring for a reunion for years, Allen admits he only started considering it after reading an interview with Lost In Translation director Sofia Coppola where she praised the band.

In his words, “That meant more than if, say, a promoter in San Diego said we were his favorite band.”

So far, the Gang Of Four isn’t sure if they’ll gang up after the tour for a CD of new material but sometime in April, the group will release a CD of newly-recorded versions of their old songs that have been remixed by members of Massive Attack and Franz Ferdinand.
