Jennie Garth: ‘What I Like About Volunteering’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Jennie Garth is volunteering some new information about herself: She’s a big fan of volunteerism.

Garth – who currently stars on the WB sitcom What I Like About You – is the current spokesperson for the Angel Soft Angels In Action program, which is hoping to get one million American families to volunteer for community service this year.

You might have a hard time getting your kids to do anything but Garth says it’s easier than you think. She says a kid who likes to read can be coaxed into reading for others while one who likes to draw can be coerced into making a collage to be displayed at old folks homes.

Garth is practicing what she preaches. She has convinced her 8-year-old daughter to organize her classmates for a clean-up campaign.

But while volunteering can help kids develop compassion and respect, there is a limit. Garth’s daughter may be willing to pick up litter off the streets but the actress admits getting her to clean up her room “is altogether different.”
