New Spring Training Book Provides Guide To Best Seats, Franks

ORLANDO, Fla. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – With baseball fanatics getting their vocal chords warmed up and middle fingers stretched for the upcoming season, a new book is providing a tour of the teams’ training grounds.

Florida Spring Training: Your Guide to Touring the Grapefruit League (The Intrepid Traveler) reviews the stadiums and amenities for 18 of the 30 teams who flock to the Sunshine State to train.

It covers everything from where the best hot dogs can be found to the best stadiums for getting autographs and tickets.

Author Alan Byrd – a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan – has been going to Spring Training for more than 30 years.

He says Holman Stadium in Vero Beach, Florida – where the Los Angeles Dodgers train – provides the best experience for sports admirers, as it’s easy to get autographs, tickets are cheap and most important: it has the best tasting franks.

On the flip side, Byrd says the Tampa Bay Devil Rays’ training facility, Progress Energy Park in St. Petersburg, Florida, has a “horrible” paint job and bad food.
