Indie Singers Have No Chance On `Idol'
Idol Eliminee Lilly Scott
Monday, March 15, 2010 17:16 GMT
DENVER (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) No matter how different the American Idol judges urge contestants to be, truly unique singers dont stand a chance.Thats how indie songwriter Lilly Scott feels after her shocking exit from the show last Thursday (Mar. 11).
Scott is frustrated she couldnt find a fanbase for her offbeat stylings, and thought she could finally break the boring Idol mold.
The crooner chalks up her dismissal to the shows voting demographic.
She thinks its mostly tweens watching, and the kids simply dont get her unique vibe, which really appeals to the underground market.
Moreover, her fellow indies probably dont even own a TV and if they do, theyre out riding their bikes or doing something more productive than watching American Idol.
Scott thinks she was too off-the-wall for mainstream acceptance, but maybe its for the best because now she can keep her indie cred without the Idol label looming over her.
