Harlem Globetrotters Play On Ice

Wednesday, February 3, 2010 17:30 GMT

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The Harlem Globetrotters are officially cooler than ever.

Next Tuesday (Feb. 9), the flashy New York ballers will become the first pro basketball team to play a game of hoops entirely on ice.

They’ll take on the Washington Generals at Lasker Rink in NYC, and Globetrotter Blenda Rodriguez is bringing the heat.

He plans on wearing long johns under his uniform to stay warm and special ice cleats so there’s no slipping and sliding.

Rodriguez says his team will attempt every cool trick in the rink including slam dunks and big bounces, and hopes the ice holds up.

He figures their longtime rivals “don’t stand a chance” of winning because the Globetrotters have a world of experience playing in weird venues.

They’ve balled on an aircraft carrier, at the bottom of empty swimming pools, and in a bullfighting ring in France, where, luckily, there were no bulls lining up for next game.
