So says professor, social scientist, and lesbian Kimberly Dark, who discusses what it means to be a middle- age femme dyke thats dating in her one-woman show Dykeotomy, playing Thursday (Nov. 5) through Sunday (Nov. 8) at San Franciscos Center for Sex and Culture.
Dark believes the choices lesbians make in their daily lives require a lot of dodging.
She explains, If you dodge the right way, there is great pleasure to be had, like when considering topping, bottoming, or using a strap on. If you dodge the wrong way theres potential danger.
For example, a lesbian might be screwed if theyre masculine looking because ignorant people will ridicule or pick a fight with them.
Dark laments the amount of women who have transitioned into men, not so much because of the danger theyve put themselves in, but because its shrunk her dating pool.
